We're all about families, partnerships, neighborhoods and volunteers working together.

Our Mission
Habitat for Humanity- Delaware County, PA, a christian-based organization, develops opportunities for all of God's people to act out their faith. by working in partnerships to eliminate substandard housing, we enable families and volunteers to improve lives. We create hope by building homes, strengthening neighborhoods and renewing communities.

How It Works
Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, habitat for Humanity-Delaware County constructs or rehabilitates homes in partnership with the families that will become homeowners. The building is accomplished by the families for the cost of the materials witha mortgage that does not include interest or profit. Small monthly mortgages payments, including taxes and insurance, are repaid over an average of 20 years. These payments support the construction of more houses. Habitat for Humanity has a default ratio of less than 1% internationally.

Habitat for Humanity-Delaware County is its volunteers.  Since 1991, people from all faiths, races and social/economic status have worked together in partnership to build new relationships and sense of community as well as build new housing.  Skilled trades-people join the unskilled workers to teach skills and make sure the job is done properly. All aspects of Habitat for Humanity work because of volunteers and a modest staff to organize their efforts. Many organizations partner with Habitat for Humanity-Delaware County to build homes while realizing the benefits of their members working together on a common project. Habitat for Humanity-Delaware County has helped six families achieve homeownership. On each of these homes, the homeowners have been actively involved in the building of thier own homes. After an extensive application process, each Partner Family is required to invest 300-500 hours of "sweat equity" (volunteer time), in the building of their home.
