Although most people think of the construction site when they think of Habitat for Humanity, the many volunteers
behind the scenes working to select homes and families, raise the funds, and spread the word are what make a day on
the construction site possible. Without all the other committee members Habitat would simply not be able to build
the house. The following are the current active committees: Family Selection Family Support Site Selection Construction Public Relations Resource Development Church Relations Finance Volunteer Recruitment |

The Family Selection Committee is responsible for recommending families for selection for Habitat houses. Members must have good paperwork organizational skills, and follow-up taking the applicant's paperwork through mortgage approval. Good listening skills helpful for final interview process. Gather data on applicants through written correspondence, e.g. references, credit reports, employment history, etc. Duties include: · Review completed applications. · Participate in final home interview of applicant. · Hold twice yearly open house application days. |

The Family Support Committee closely with the selected partner family, guiding and assisting them through the building of their home.
Duties include: · Develops and records "sweat equity" process. Educates family on Habitat principles, policies and requirements. · Assists in making personal choices in home design. · Provides budgeting guidance if necessary. · Attends closing. · Follows up after closing to maintain relationship with family. |
| The Site Selection Committee defines focus neighborhoods and works to acquire houses within them. Researches ownership and status of vacant homes within the focus neighborhood. Follows up on requests to donate houses, with inspection and recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Tracks homes for sale through HUD, sheriff's sale, etc. and finds opportunities for the affiliate. |

The Construction Committee and the Site Selection Committee work together to evaluate potential sites. Once houses have been acquired, this Committee:
· Creates workable house plans · Develops construction timeline · Estimates construction costs and materials · Acquires necessary permits · Works closely with Construction Site Manager throughout the building of the house |

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for increasing the awareness of the activities of Habitat for Humanity-Delaware County. Duties include: · Generate press releases to cover activities and events · Write, edit and coordinate production of semi-annual newsletter · Work closely with Fundraising Committee to promote its activities · Help coordinate communication with corporate and church sponsors · Develop and maintain website presence |

The Resource Development Committee is responsible for exploring potential sources of revenue and funding for Habitat building projects and for the affiliate's daily operating expenses. Habitat training materials provide direction and guidance for fundraising. Committee members are able to work independently from home. Duties include: · Complete grant applications, funding proposals and other written requests for funding · Prepare solicitation letters to individuals, foundations and corporations · Schedule fundraising events to generate income and offer an opportunity for public relations exposure |

The Church Relations Committee communicates with churches and other religious organizations throughout the county asking them to partner with Habitat through prayer and support. As a Christian ministry, Habitat's partnership with churches has been a key resource for funding, volunteers, and partner family applicants.
Duties include: · Make presentations to church groups and congregations · Develop mailings to keep churches informed and encouraged on how their Outreach Committees may participate · Works towards coordinating Building on Faith week in September |

The Finance Committee is responsible for making financial plans and monitoring cash flow.
Duties include: · Establish an annual budget · Compile financial reports for monthly Board of Trustees meetings · Communicate with Fundraising Committee to monitor cash flow · Revalue mortgage escrows · Manage payroll changes · Create end of year annual report |

The Volunteer Recruiting Committee builds, strengthens and nurtures our relationship with our volunteers. This Committee ensures that the program is volunteer-friendly and conducive to a rewarding experience to maintain the highest possible level of participation.
Duties include: · Seek new sources for volunteer recruitment · Work closely with Database Entry volunteer, in-office Volunteer Coordinator and Construction Site Manager to establish a pool of volunteers available Develop an annual plan for new recruits · Oversee maintenance of Database · Maintain record of number of hours volunteered · Help organize an annual volunteer recognition program |
